Summer concerts

XBY have had two brilliant summer ‘bandstand’ gigs this year which was a great end to our year!

First up, XBY were invited to take part in the BYMT Summer Garden Party where we invited BYMT alumni and the BYCB leavers to join us for our performance in the new BYMT marquee! 

We performed our programme under the baton of Music Maestro Dennis Mycroft which included pieces such as Great Moments in Cinema and Global Variations.

It was really nice to get a chance to see the XBYCO (alumni strings) also perform at this event, with both alumni groups helping to run the Pimms Tent raising funds for the BYMT Young Musicians Fund. Despite the many downpours it was great to see such a turn out of parents, musicians and teachers and to listen to all the brilliant performances by current students of BYMT. 

Our last event before the Summer break, was a fabulous afternoon of music at The Greyhound, Keston. 

After our original venue unfortunately had to cancel due to the weather forecast The Greyhound hosted us at very short notice!

The sun came out for our gig (mostly) and it was brilliant to have such a supportive audience and venue. It was a testament to our band that when our gig got cancelled members still wanted to perform…. so within two days to the event a new venue was found, band reassembled and a summer gig and social was had !!

We were conducted by John Hargreaves for this event and performed a mixture of well known pop and musical works to entertain the crowds (see some of the videos on our social media!)

Now for a well earned summer break which we are heading into with the news that our entry to the World Music Contest in Kerkrade for 2026 has been accepted !!!
